Come away with yourself for a few hours or a few days. You may rest, reflect, walk a labyrinth or stand in the gardens and let the prairie winds play with your hair. You may sit before the fire in the "Setting Room" and ponder the flames. You may read, write, meditate or just be. You may want to play with the abundant art materials or choose a book from the well-stocked shelves.  Whether you choose to stay for a day, an overnight, or an extended period you are invited to call us "home" and enjoy the grounds, Roost, and Tree House to your heart's content.

The Roost provides simple comforts for those choosing to stay overnight - two small "Nests" simply furnished with a comfy twin-sized bed in each.  Can you imagine what it feels like to be cradled in a small, soft nest...where your every need is taken care of and you can just "be?"  This is the feeling of those who have "nested" in this comforting space.  The blessings and stories of generations surround each soul who comes to this place and provide welcoming arms for rest, nurture, and renewal.

We rent both "Nests" only when friends or family choose to retreat together, so you are assured of privacy and glorious, abundant space.   Retreating with a friend or your spouse is a wonderful way to spend quality time together away from the demands of everyday life, and to honor and nurture relationships.

The bare floor of the Gathering Room is perfect for dancing in candlelight, with the light of the moon shining through the skylight, and Soul of the Prairie's canvas "Sunflower" labyrinth may be set up for your use.

Adjoining The Nests is a comfortable family-style room - the "Setting Room" - with a cushy couch and chair, filled book shelves, CD player, air-conditioner, and LP stove.  Art supplies are abundant and awaiting your exploration and expression.  A microwave and refrigerator, along with basic kitchen supplies allow you to cook your own simple meals if you wish.  A light breakfast of is included in your stay. 

Spiritual direction/companionship is available during your retreat, if you wish, for an additional fee.

The Tree House

Have you ever dreamed of sleeping in a tree house?  Do you enjoy doing things that are "off the beaten path?"  Perhaps a night in our tree house is just what you are looking for!

The Tree House is small, about 6' x 10'.  Inside is a small desk, chair, and lantern.  There is room for one or two sleeping bags on the floor.  Outside is a wonderful porch that overlooks the spiral labyrinth.  From the porch you can watch both the sunrise and sunset in shady, cool comfort.  There is always a breeze on the porch! Under the porch is a traditional porch swing, big enough for one or two.  A tire swing waits nearby.  You'll have full use of all of Soul of the Prairie's outdoor labyrinths, gardens, and grounds.  Please plan to bring your own sleeping bag and pad.  Full bathroom facilities are located in The Roost.  A light breakfast is included, and may be hoisted up to The Tree House if you like.  You may bring your own food, and use the microwave and small refrigerator in the Roost.  The Tree House is available only during warmer months.

Personal Day Retreats

Know that here, at Soul of the Prairie, we understand the importance of days like this for you and believe we have created a space which holds you gently as you dance to God’s melody played just for you.  With a cozy fire, comfy surroundings, quiet music, a well-stocked library of spiritual books, art materials, labyrinths, and space to roam it is easy to dance with God in wild abandon!   Come away with yourself for a day filled with only yourself and possibilities!  Personal Day Retreats give you access to Soul of the Prairie facilities and grounds, including space in The Roost for napping.  You may bring your own food.  Spiritual direction/companionship is available during your retreat, if you wish, for an additional fee.
