Prayer Shawl Workshop
Sunday, March 7 3:00-6:00pm

Creating and giving away prayer shawls is a ministry of compassionate presence.  At this workshop, we will be creating knitted or crocheted prayer shawls and will talk about the ministry prayer shawls enable.  Come even if you don't know how to knit - we'll teach you!  No charge except for your own supplies.  For questions, or to register contact mary(at)souloftheprairie.com.  Please register by Thursday, March 4.

“NESTING” Workshop/Writing Retreat led by Dwight Grosvenor
Sunday, April 11  3:00-7:00pm

“Nesting” is a new way of writing that will strengthen your Spiritual Disciplines of prayer and journal writing.

“Nesting” is a new discipline that will guide you and draw you closer to the Holy. Nestings are words that will lead you to silence and a silence that will lead you to words. The Holy One will surround you with words and silence. Writing and reading “Nestings” will provide you a way to slow down and pause, a way to be quiet and open to the Holy.

A “Nesting” begins with a single sentence/verse that is built upon. Participants will have an opportunity to write – an opportunity to hear from others and to share.

Sunday, April 11  3:00-7:00pm  For reservations or more information, please contact Dwight at grosveno@evertek.net
Cost: $15    Bring a sack lunch. There will be an opportunity to walk a labyrinth.

Here is an example of a "Nesting":

The Roots of Prayer

Roots are in the deep, dark soil of winter.

Roots are in the deep, dark soil of winter
while branches are exposed to the cold, snow, and wind.

Roots are in the deep, dark soil of winter.
While branches are exposed to the cold, snow and wind –
the whole tree gathers its energy together.

Roots are in the deep, dark soil of winter
while branches are exposed to the cold, snow and wind.
The whole tree gathers its energy together,
waiting for the promised light of spring and growth.

Roots are in the deep, dark soil of winter.
While branches are exposed to the cold, snow and wind –
the whole tree gathers its energy together.
Waiting for the promised light of spring and growth
the prayer shawl covers my shoulders and I enter the silence of prayer.

Roots are in the deep …
